Hold to me if I glimmer and shine, or wane and slip away from beauty

Steadfastness in love surely must please our Lord,

The One who blew us alive with ruh

And suckled our yearnings as we set about digging up the earth

Sometimes at night, listening to your breathing, I imagine eternity

Just an ebb and flow of invisible essence coming in and going out

Contract, relax, repeat

Is that how nature hints at the mysteries of the Divine?

In a lover’s rhythmic embrace “I” forget myself

And wander in a warm winter’s darkness
