Coma

I breathe in the dark

Sedated and losing time

Suspended calmly

Eyes taped shut

The soft and safe network of wires and tubes

Keeps me from sleep

Keeps me from truly waking too

One day (but what is a day anymore?)

I pray to run again, to feel excitement

To comb my fingers through her hair

And taste the bitter lemony skin

My visions hold me between darkness and mist

The dreamer gets lost in despondency

And conjures an illusion of living purposefulness
