Opinionated comment: Think for yourself! That is as Allah, God Almighty, intended. We are to address all life’s dilemmas with a pure heart turned toward God. We were given intellect and the right to address our Creator directly through prayer.
Ask advice of those who truly follow Islam but if their words do not ring true in your heart, flowing sweetly and easily from thought to action then run back to prayer and do not give up in asking God for guidance. Allah is in your heart. Seek with faith.

Alhumdulillah,
I have a slight problem with this. Yes we should pray Ishtikhara and ask Allah for guidance, but on many issues Allah has already guided us with the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Muhammad SWS.
“O You who believe! do not put (yourselves) forward before Allâh and his Messenger (Sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe Wa Sallam), and fear Allâh. Verily! Allâh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. ” 49:1

think for yourself, don’t take your car to a mechanic. Fix it yourself. Do your own heart surgery, yank your own teeth, do your own root-canal, etc. etc.
I guess this site http://islaminaction.wordpress.com must close its doors… nothing personal…

This rant is in reference to the scourge of fatwas that have taken advantage of ignorant people. I’m talking fatwas that are general & unprincipled or completely in opposition to the tenents of Islamic faith & practice. That is why one must not simply follow, but think, think, think before you act!
Do not follow blindly any information of which you have no direct knowledge. (Using your faculties of perception and conception) you must verify it for yourself. In the Court of your Lord, you will be held accountable for your hearing, sight, and the faculty of reasoning [17/36].
Never think that you have reached the final stage of knowledge and nobody knows more than yourself. Remember! Above everyone endowed with knowledge is another endowed with more knowledge [12/76]. Even the Prophet [p.b.u.h] was asked to keep praying, “O My sustainer! Advance me in knowledge.” [20:114]
