The time you told me you wanted to make it work – Just go ahead and take it back
The reassurances you gave – just regift them to someone else who deserves them more
Take back the plans to roadtrip it up to Whidbey, to enjoy a weekend in July when I don’t have to work, to have a slumber party of two for once, to go visit the puppy with me, to go to the park and shoot hoops
I can’t be eloquent when I scream out in frustration – TAKE IT BACK! All the promises and all the potential – now for nothing
And the time you told me it was over again, you could take that back too. If such acts – the defining moments of our lives – could be returned … for cash or maybe just store credit
